    SF105 is a thixotropic, water-borne floor covering adhesive specially developed for linoleum and vinyl floor coverings - particularly the highly plasticised types. It's also approved for use with PVC-backed carpets.

    With strong initial tack, a permanent bond, and good resistance to plasticiser migration, it's a dependable choice that's approved by most major flooring manufacturers.

    Where to use:

     

    Installation must comply with BS 8204, BS 8203 (Installation of Resilient Floor Coverings) or BS 5325 (Installation of Textile Floor Coverings), plus any supplementary specifications.

    Porous surfaces must be primed with CS150 Acrylic Primer before use.

    If you're working over underfloor heating, it needs to be fully commissioned, then switched off 48 hours before and during installation. Only bring it back on gradually 48 hours after completion, following the commissioning schedule — get in touch with our technical team for a full specification.

  • Preparation

    • Site conditions must comply with BS CP 102, BS 8203, BS 5325 and any supplementary specifications.
    • Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from oil, grease, paint, excessive dust and any other contaminants that could affect adhesion.
    • Concrete and sand/cement screeds must be completely free from laitance.
    • Direct-to-earth subfloors need an efficient damp-proof membrane.
    • Prime any porous surfaces with CS150 Acrylic Primer, applied by paint roller, and allow to dry.

    Application

    • Stir the adhesive thoroughly before use.
    • Spread evenly with a correctly notched trowel (1.5mm x 5mm) for vinyl floor coverings.
    • Only spread as much as you can cover within the open time — 10 to 25 minutes, depending on conditions.
    • Lay the floor covering into the semi-wet adhesive (absorbent surfaces only). Press firmly from the centre outward to exclude air and ensure full contact, then roll immediately in both directions with a 68kg flooring roller. A second rolling is recommended.
    • For low-absorbency surfaces, use the "double drop" method: place the pre-fitted floor covering into the wet adhesive, firm it in to transfer adhesive to the back of the vinyl, then roll back and let the adhesive tack up before carefully repositioning. Roll again with a 68kg flooring roller in both directions.
    • Keep the area free from heavy traffic for 24 hours after laying.
