Safety Grip Application Guide
Safety-Grip anti-slip grip tapes are designed to cover flat surfaces where a slip risk is possible. Whether it's walkways, ramps or treads, Safety-Grip is perfect for a variety of materials and substrates including steel, wood, concrete and plastics. Most of all it's quick and easy to install - follow these 5 simple steps to create a slip resistant surfaces that is instantly ready to walk on.
1. Material Storage
Keep the tape in dry, warm conditions in its original packaging.
2. Surface Preparation
Smooth, non porous, dust free surfaces do not require priming.
A clean, dry surface is essential - use IPA Chemical Cleaner to remove all surface contaminants like dust and paint flakes.
DO NOT use methylated spirits/petrol/lighter fluid etc because they leave behind a thin, greasy residue.
Ensure the prepared surface is above 10 degrees celcius.
3. Porous Surface Sealing
Porous surfaces must be sealed prior to application to prevent water attacking the adhesive. We recommend using floorsaver Concrete Sealer - it's the ultimate, multi-purpose concrete sealer.
Apply a think coat to the cleaned surface using a paint brush, then leave to dry.
4. TapE Application
Peel back part of the release line then press the adhesive firmly onto the surface, and slowly keep peeling back the liner while applying the tape. Try to ensure that the tape is not taut.
If appearance is critical we recommend the application of a small trial area first.
Avoid application at temperatures below 10°C. Low temperatures can reduce adhesion.
5. Finish!
Once applied press tape down firmly using even pressue - we recommend using a decoraring roller. With a soft rubber pallet impact the surface to ensure it flows into the valleys. We recommend sealing the edges using 'edge fix' as this will extend the life of the product. Oonly use a small amount down the edges, a thin bead.
Follow these instructions and the new anti slip surface can be walked on instantly, you will get the maximum benefit from the adhesive system after 48 hours. Although the product can be walked on virtually straight away, the adhesive can take 24 hours to set fully. Immediately after placing the item onto the substrate, it can be peeled off reasonably easily. Please allow the adhesive to set if using in heavily trafficked or hazardous areas.
