QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
A: Hi, new concrete should be left for around 6-8 weeks to fully cure and then etched using Floorsaver Floor Etcher. This will remove all the laitance (a weak dusty layer that forms on new concrete) and also provide a good key for a paint to bond to. As it's already painted you will need to remove the weak layer of paint (perhaps using a wire brush) and hopefully get back to bare concrete. If you manage to remove all the paint then use the Floor Etcher, but if you have a mixture of painted areas and bare concrete, it's probably easier to just wire brush everything and not use the etcher. You just need to make sure the dust is removed, and that it's clean and dry and that you have a good key for the paint to bond to. If you need an anti slip paint take a look at our Exterior Floor Paint. One coat is all you normally need as it's quite thick and covers well.
